Cafe Reviews

Each boba cafe has its own taste or quirk that makes them different than others.  We have visited several cafes and given them our own reviews to help you decide which boba cafe is best for you based off of three aspects: Flavors, boba texture, and overall cafe aesthetic.

Cafe #1 : Koco Bowl

Cafe Koco Bowl 7923 Golf Rd Morton Grove, IL Restaurants - MapQuest
Our time at Koco Bowl was very enjoyable and convenient . There are a wide variety of flavors including fan favorites such as taro and brown sugar milk tea. Not only does Koco Bowl have a wide selection of flavors, it also lets you combine two flavors for you to experiment with so that each visit is an exciting one (trust me you're going to be staring at the menu for a while). When it comes to the texture of the boba, it delivers flawlessly. If I had to chose, I would say that Koco Bowl has the best boba out all of the cafes. Koco Bowl has a very quiet and chill atmosphere (almost like a library with drinks!) that invites people to study or hang out with friends. In case you aren't a bubble tea fan, Koco Bowl offers other foods such as chicken wings, ramen noodles, and more. Another thing about Koco Bowl is that it has top of the notch customer service. Koco Bowl has a system where as soon as you order, you receive a buzzer that notifies you when your order is ready to pick up. The only downside to Koco Bowl is that it does get a little pricey. Despite that, Koco Bowl has a very enjoyable atmosphere and a wide variety of drinks.

Cafe #2 : TeaRex

TeaRex Bubble Tea Cafe - Home | Facebook
TeaRex Bubble Tea Cafe - 66 Photos & 30 Reviews - Bubble Tea ...      TeaRex is iconic among our friend group. We always find ourselves going there for last minute plans. First, let's talk about its aesthetics. Apart from the adorable mascot, TeaRex has fluffy pillows to sit with and artistic drawings to enjoy while you're waiting for your order. TeaRex has many flavors to chose from, although sometimes the drinks may have a watery taste. Despite the taste, the nearly perfect tapioca texture makes up for it. Another great thing about TeaRex is that it has amazing customer service. The workers there are very friendly and they create a welcoming atmosphere. The server even replaced my friend's orders after he dropped and spilled his drink...TWICE!

Cafe #3 : Kung Fu Tea

Kung Fu Tea now open in College Park | Community Impact Newspaper
Kung Fu Tea is special among the rest of the cafes. This is because it has the most unique flavors out there such as winter melon, lychee punch, and its own kung fu black tea. If those somehow don't seen appealing to you, Kung Fu Tea also has swirled ice cream that come in attractive flavors and toppings. The texture of the cafe's boba is amazing as it compliments the flavor of the drink perfectly. Although Kung Fu Tea has amazing flavors and boba, its aesthetic is not something to look forward too. The cafe is very cramped, and when I say it's cramped I mean it. there is probably only room for two or three families here. If you're looking for somewhere to hang out with your friends, I recommend looking elsewhere. Other than the lack of space, it exceeds our expectations with its variety of flavors.

Cafe #4 : Avalanche

Avalanche Bubble Tea - Morton Grove | Restaurant Review - ZagatAvalanche Bubble Tea Menu, Menu for Avalanche Bubble Tea, Morton ...
If you're looking for somewhere comfy, this is the place. Avalanche has just as many flavors to choose from, just like the other cafes. The atmosphere inside is very cozy and welcoming as they have comfortable couches inside, making it a great choice for 'gathering groups' for friends.  During busy hours, the lines can get very long but the wait is worth it as they have a lot of flavors and combinations to try. While Avalanche does provide a lot of flavors, its boba texture isn't very satisfactory. Sometimes, the texture of the tapioca feels frozen and aren't very chewy.

Cafe #5 : Boba Club

The black sheep of Glenview: Boba Club adds new twists to popular ...
Boba Club - 20% Cash Back at Boba Club | Groupon
Now we come to our final cafe, Boba Club. Boba Club has the best aesthetics out of all of the mentioned cafes. It has a club like vibe, hence the name of the cafe. Boba Club has a decent amount of space for groups to hang out or to study. In fact, Boba Club has designated rooms meant for people who want to sit down, have a drink, and study quietly. Similar to the other cafes mentioned, Boba Club has a lot of flavors and even offers you samples. Even though it may seem that the flavors lack in taste, its perfect boba texture makes up for it. If you're looking for a little more pizzazz, Boba Club also has a few uncommonly shaped containers and bottles for your boba to please your aesthetic needs. For exampl,e they have cute light bulb-shaped containers and more, which compliment the atmosphere and give a unique twist in the cafe.

  1. Looks like the place to hang out is Boba Club - but with a Kung Fu tea in my hand. Links to these establishments and addresses would be helpful here. I like your grading system!
